Gerald Schwedler

Gerald Schwedler studied History, English Literature, Philosophy and Auxiliary Sciences of History at Salzburg, Oxford, Rome and Heidelberg. In his dissertation he dealt with political ritual and the performance of kingship in late medieval Europe. As a member of the Collaborative Research Center “Dynamics of Ritual” he has organised various workshops and conferences in Heidelberg. Hs published articles focus on late medieval monarchy and court life. So far he has (co-)edited the volumes Die Welt der Rituale (2006), Prozessionen, Aufmärsche, Wallfahrten (in print) and Ritualdynamik: Das Ursprüngliche und das Neue an Ritualen (in print). From October 2007 on he will be teaching medieval history at Zurich University, Switzerland.
